  • The 2008 PIEA International Travelling Photo Exhibition
  • Tuesday 29 July – Friday 8 August, 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday
  • The 2008 PIEA International Travelling Photo Exhibition displays the top student photographs from around the world. Exhibited in 58 venues in Australia, Canada, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States. The images were chosen from over 6,100 entries from 115 schools, include the best work from nine countries: Australia, Canada, China, Guatemala, Honduras, India, South Africa, United Kingdom and the United States. No other student photo competition is seen by as many people on four different continents.

  • '2 + 1' is an exhibition of final year Bachelor of Design (Photography) students at the Canberra Institute of Technology. These works vary in subject matter from actions sports to portraits. Photographers on display are Brenton Colley who received second prize winner in the National Youth Self Portrait Prize 2008, Ella Brodie-Reed, Jody Smith, Kathleen Mac Andrews, Masha Zaric an AIPP Silver award winner 2007, Nicholas Gascoine, Oliver Geier, Cate McDonald, Naomi Leonard and Scott Pottinger.

  • 'Eat' is an exhibition showcasing works of past and present food photography students of Canberra Institute of Technology. CITSA Café Yala – Exhibition One

  • 'My Place' is an exploration of Canberra as home – documenting spaces that range from the iconic landmarks to the personal special places that might look insignificant but are laden with memories or stories of the past. This work is all shot on Black and White film and printed by 1st year Canberra Institute of Technology Bachelor of Design (Photography) students.

  • 'Shine' is a sample of studio work by 2nd year CIT Bachelor of Design (Photography) students that shows the technical skills and proficiency needed to photograph challenging objects – chrome, glass and other difficult shiny things. This work is all digital, printed with the generous sponsorship of PixelPerfect.

  • An exhibition that exposes the significant impact photography has had on the visual artist by focussing on the work of 16 artists from the Centre for Creative Industries, Canberra Institute of Technology. These artists explore, translate and reinterpret captured moments into a diverse array of different media including painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, textiles, installation and photography, and provide glimpses into the creative process.

Workshops at CIT:

  • Cyanotype Workshop for the Public
  • Saturday 2 August, 9:30am – 4:30pm, $250 includes lunch
  • Learn how to make cyanotype prints on watercolour paper, rice paper and fabric. Cyanotype was one of the earliest photographic printing processes. This workshop is a totally engaging hands-on experience, involving the participant from the choice and preparation of paper, until the moment the image is revealed. Wendy will also show you how to achieve a subtle variety of shades with various toning techniques. A basic knowledge of photographic printing is advantageous but not essential.
