Australian Apprenticeships
Australian Apprenticeships encompass all apprenticeships and traineeships. Traditionally, apprenticeships were only available in 'declared vocations' or trade areas. Now Australian Apprenticeships are available in many more industries than ever before, for example Information Technology, Children's Services, Business, Hospitality and Tourism. They combine time at work with training and can be full-time, part-time or school-based. Apprentices must be in a training contract with an employer. To organise a training contract you must contact one of the Australian Apprenticeship Centres. CIT partners with employers and offers training for a large number of Australian Apprenticeships. The apprentices and trainees at CIT receive high quality training from teachers who have extensive industry experience. CIT works with employers to ensure a close integration of on and off-the-job training. Apprentices and trainees will be assessed for many of their competencies in the workplace. Apprenticeships are generally three years in duration and traineeships generally are one year. On successful completion, the qualification is issued by CIT. Australian Apprenticeships are the best way to combine training and employment and lead to a nationally recognised qualification.
