Aged Care Work - Certificates III


Program Summary: These programs will enable new and existing aged care workers to broaden their skills base and knowledge, to increase employability and inform all levels of work in both residential aged care and community based facilities. The two qualifications, Certificate III in Home and Community Care and the Certificate III in Aged Care Work, have been designed to run concurrently so that both Certificates can be completed in one year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent).

Job Opportunities:
Certificate III in Home and Community Care: Work in the community under regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans
Certificate III in Aged Care Work: Work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisational guidelines and service plans

Entry Requirements: You must:
- be able to read and write documents and understand maths concepts to a level required to complete Year 10 (early in your program your skills will be checked - if you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level needed, you will be enrolled in additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the program)
AND
- be able to demonstrate maturity to cope with the professional requirements of the program.

If you are entering these programs as a trainee under the Australian Apprenticeships arrangements, you must be employed in the industry and you must register with an Australian Apprenticeships Centre (AAC) prior to enrolment.

Additional Information: Before undertaking any practicum experience you will be required to undertake a police check and have a senior first aid certificate. You may need to purchase some text books and resources. A materials fee may be attached to some subjects/units of competency.
