Student Services


CIT Student Services helps students during their enrolment at the Institute. A wide range of services is offered to students to assist them in the successful completion of their studies and to enhance their personal lives.

The following services are offered to students at CIT:


Careers

The CIT Careers Adviser can provide information and assistance free of charge to enrolled students, including:

  • Careers assessment
  • Career path planning
  • Skills assessment
  • Enrolment fees/applications at CIT and other institutions.

CIT Card

The CITCard is an identity card for students and staff developed using "smartcard" technology. It displays your name, student number, colour photograph and your date of birth (optional).

Counselling

CIT Counsellors are able to assist enrolled students in completing their studies or in dealing with life issues. Counsellors provide a wide range of services relating to:

  • Personal and family issues
  • Information, educational issues
  • Time management
  • Stress management
  • Becoming a more efficient student

Disability Support

If you have a disability or an ongoing medical condition and require assistance we can:

  • Liaise with departments about a place in the course
  • Assist with enrolment procedures
  • Help you make decisions about your course of study
  • Negotiate the support you need for your studies

Employment

CIT Employment Options provides assistance to CIT students and graduates who are seeking employment. Individual appointments can be arranged from Monday to Wednesday.

Our services include:

  • Résumé development and job application preparation
  • Interview skills
  • Effective job seeking skills.

Australian Government Funded Recruitment Services

Job Placement Services are the Australian Government funded recruitment services, with more than 400 organisations delivering services from over 2500 offices across Australia. More information about this service is available at www.workplace.gov.au/jobplacement.


Financial Assistance

For those experiencing financial hardship, CIT and CIT Student Association (CITSA) offer a limited number of loans, grants and scholarships. You can obtain further advice by:

  • Calling into a Counselling or CITSA office on any campus

Equity

The Equity Officer at CIT is responsible for ensuring that all students are fairly represented and supported in courses particularly those that involve new technologies and non traditional skills. Promoting a range of career options, supporting students experiencing severe financial difficulty and dealing with harassment are also important roles for this area.

Indigenous Student Support

Yurauna CentreThe Yurauna Centre provides academic and personal support for Indigenous students in a culturally friendly environment where students can meet and study. It is located at Reid Campus.

Migrant Support

If you are a migrant and need help because you are from a non-English speaking background, the Migrant Coordinator can:

  • Advise you on the most appropriate course of study
  • Tell you the different ways of applying for CIT programs
  • Help you during your studies with tutorial assistance.
