Our Organisation

Although the Canberra Institute of Technology behaves in many ways like a member of the private sector, it is in fact a government institute. This makes it accountable for its actions to the ACT Government. CIT is a statutory authority established on 4 January 1988 under the ACT Institute of Technical and Further Education Act 1987. In November 1992, the ACT Legislative Assembly passed legislation changing our name to the Canberra Institute of Technology.

Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is a Registered Training Organisation under the The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF).

Qualifications offered by CIT range from certificate to degree level and provide a range of flexible learning options. CIT staff are industry professionals, with students benefiting from their expertise, support and personal attention. CIT has over 400 different nationally accredited courses to choose from, across 10 teaching centres.
