Online Applications Embraced for '08
17 January 2008 The Canberra Institute of Technology's (CIT) NEW online application process has proved a hit with the Canberra community, with over a thousand new students having already applied online to study at CIT in 2008. Online applications were an initiative of CIT in late 2007, aimed at making it easier for potential students to find all the information that they need about their course of choice and then apply to study at CIT at the same time. CIT Chief Executive, Dr Colin Adrian said "this is a great start to the New Year for CIT and the response from potential students to the ease of making an online application has been positive." The launch of CIT's new Vocational College in late 2007 has also been well received by the community, with applications to commence the 2008 Year 12 program proving very strong. The CIT Vocational College assists students to study essential skills programs such as English, literacy and numeracy, Year 10 and Year 12 at the same time as studying for a work qualification. The introduction of online applications capped off a successful year for CIT in 2007, where student numbers were strong across the board, especially so in skills shortage areas such as plumbing, IT, building construction, cabinet making, child care, hospitality operations and also international students. "Another highlight for potential students and our local business community is the recently refreshed CIT website, which with its new look and feel making it easier to find information about CIT courses and the benefits of studying at CIT," said Dr Adrian. CIT's major 2008 student enrolment process will continue with the CIT Semester 1 2008 Course Guide, which will appear in the Canberra Times this Saturday, 19 January 2008.
