International students jet in to CIT
7 February 2008 More than a hundred and fifty international students will congregate at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) Bruce Campus tomorrow for the 2008 CIT International Student Orientation Day. Orientation Day is an integral part of CIT's successful international student program that saw a record 743 enrolments in 2007. Lynne Latta, CIT International Services Manager is excited about 2008, saying "we are expecting another record breaking year of over 1000 international enrolments." "Our international students will represent over 70 nationalities from around the world, providing a valuable contribution to the diversity of the CIT student population," said Lynne. The Orientation Day is an introduction to Canberra and Australia. As well as receiving a welcome pack on living and studying in Canberra, specialist guest speakers from ACTION Buses, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Australian Federal Police, Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, Customs, Overseas Student Health Care - Worldcare and the CIT Student Association, will present valuable "how to" information. The day is also an opportunity for international students to meet their CIT Pastoral Care Officer, who can assist them with enrolment information, course questions and many other academic and personal issues that can arise when studying in another country.
