CIT and the Canberra Raiders launch Raiders TV

10 April 2008

It’s been an exciting week for Raiders fans who like to get online and check out their favourite stars, with the launch of the new Raiders TV concept on www.raiders.com.au.

Raiders TV is a joint initiative of the Green Machine and the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT), and gives fans an insight into what is happening behind the scenes at Raiders HQ.

The program also offers the students at CIT the chance to get a more hands on approach to their study, with the students having to work to deadlines and production guidelines.

The show is shot on location at the Television studios at CIT’s Bruce campus, with Raiders ground announcer and former TV presenter Greg ‘Robbo’ Robson chairing the panel style format of the show.

Robbo was joined for the inaugural show on the panel by Injures Raiders Hooker Ryan Hinchcliffe, Raiders Media Manager Ben Pollack and Raiders CEO Don Furner, as they discussed everything leading into the Raiders match against the Tigers this Sunday.

Raiders CEO Don Furner said it was great to see the Raiders TV concept get off the ground, and said it was another great way for fans to check out their favourite players, and address the issues in the game.

"I think with the way in which media is heading online, Raiders TV gives us the chance to give our fans a little bit more," Furner said. "Over the course of the year we’ll have a number of special guests on the show to talk about the Green Machine, so there’s plenty to look forward to."

Furner said the partnership between the Raiders and CIT would continue to grow through Raiders TV, and hoped the students could go on to achieve more in the future.

"So far the work that the guys at CIT have done has been tremendous and we appreciate their efforts," Furner said. "Hopefully this can help them as well, and they can go on to make careers from Raiders TV."

CIT Chief Executive Dr Colin Adrian, said the program is a great opportunity for CIT and their students, to partner with the Raiders to develop the Raiders TV show.

"CIT’s partnership with the Raiders is an example of the importance we place on relevant and practical work based learning," Dr Adrian said. "Each student involved in developing the web based panel show will benefit by having to produce from scratch, a professional standard and regular program."

Episode 1 of Raiders TV will be available on Friday 11 April at www.raiders.com.au
