CIT and NMA partner up for next 3 years!

28 February 2008

Two of Canberra’s major institutions, the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) and the National Museum of Australia have joined forces to jointly develop training and education opportunities for students.

Dr Colin Adrian, CIT Chief Executive and Mr Craddock Morton, Director of the National Museum Australia recently renewed a three year Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) at a ceremony held at the Museum.

The MOU formalises links between the two organisations enabling them to work together to deliver education work placement and field work opportunities for CIT students at one of the nation’s leading cultural institutions. CIT and the National Museum of Australia first signed an MOU in 2001.

CIT holds annual major fashion and film events at the Museum and CIT students have participated in programs that have provided great benefits for students and visitors to the National Museum of Australia.

"I would like to acknowledge the continued relationship between the National Museum of Australia and Canberra Institute of Technology and we look forward to working together for many more years to come" said Craddock Morton, Director of the National Museum of Australia.

Dr Adrian said "it is a great opportunity for CIT students to learn with the National Museum of Australia, it is important that we work closely with such leading national organisations to ensure that our students receive the best possible training."

Dr Adrian and Mr Morton wished each other luck in the 2007 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, being held in the National Convention Centre on Friday 29 February, where both organisations have been shortlisted as finalists in their respective categories. Both CIT and the Museum won their category in last year’s 2006 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
