CIT Celebrates World Environment Day
4 June 2008 The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is joining with the world to celebrate World Environment Day tomorrow. Organised by CIT students and the CIT Environmental Practices Committee, World Environment Day at CIT will see many activities that will educate us on how we can all help the environment. It will also highlight the many environment related courses that CIT offers and activities that CIT is undertaking to decrease its own environmental footprint. There will be activities and information at the event including solar panels, wind turbines, a hydrogen car, environmental insects, horticulture information, recycled water display, environmental quiz, greenhouse calculator and more. Territory and Municipal Services, Fuji-Xerox Australia and Canberra Coffee will also be there with information stands and activities. Mick Gentlemen MLA and Mary Porter MLA will attend the special day as well as CIT students and many secondary school students from across Canberra. Mick Gentleman MLA will officially open the day at 12.15pm with a short speech followed by a tree planting.
